The effect of the origin of antioxidants on kinetics of contact oxidation of rubbers on metals has been investigated. It was observed that if a rubber was inhibited by an effective complex-forming reagent Kupferon, the substrate would not in fact show its catalytic activity which is related to rather restricted transfer of the metal into the polymer film. The data obtained are indicative of the prevailing role played by the transferred metal in catalysis of contact oxidation of rubbers. (Author abstract) 24 Refs.
